Another big day of giving at the localFor the past four days we have been accepting charitable items on behalf of those recently “un-homed” due to the massive fires in Sonoma County. Our little town of Alameda has organized to gather up supplies for all of our neighbors up north.
The Local has been filled daily with goods, then dutifully organized, put on a truck and shipped North. It is been a truly amazing experience and each day I’m surprised again by the giving and charitable spirit of our community. Our last scheduled pick up is Friday morning, October 13th at 10am. Any last minute donations need to arrive by 8 am. Then we get to devise a plan for future relief efforts. And through it all, the cafe has stayed open. I apologize to some of our guests who are here to work and the noise is gotten a little louder than normal. I need to thank so many people, but that’ll have to come later once we are through the rush. Thanks Alameda! Otto
